The Filtered Truth

Image
I decided to commit my latest work to the humble coffee filter . Why? Because there is a certain stoic irony in using a tool designed to trap bitterness to instead release beauty. Designing on an uneven, porous surface is a lot like life: you think you have control of the ink, but the paper has its own agenda. It’s a constant negotiation with gravity and absorption. But that "organic" look? That’s just a fancy word for authentic chaos . I share this not for the applause, but to release the tension. Art should help us navigate the "shadows of light"—that grey area where we aren't quite sure if we're winning or just surviving. I want to cultivate a light that illuminates the dark darkness (and believe me, it’s plenty dark in there). The true skill of the artist—and the human—is knowing when to push and when to let the ink bleed .

The War Inside and Out

Great morning at the gym. I woke up, handled my business with the Creator, and headed out while the rest of the world was still hitting snooze. On the drive, I recorded a new podcast episode for the blog—nothing like a little philosophy to go with your pre-workout. I focused on triceps and lower chest today, followed by cardio and stretching. My muscles are screaming, but my ego is silent. Today is a win because I decided it would be. In this life, you’re going to run into friction; you can either let it grind you down into a bitter mess or use it to polish yourself into something harder and brighter. Most people get salty when things get tough. Don’t be "most people." Choose to get better, not bitter . It’s a daily conditioning of the mind—a reminder that the hardest battle you’ll ever fight is the one happening between your ears. If you win that one, the rest is just physics. #fhBlogSquad Want more of this? I’m not hard to find. ---

Anger Storms (#PurpleSurge)

The Art of Weathering the Storm Life has a funny way of throwing a "Perfect Storm" at us right when we’ve finally straightened our hair or finished washing the car. Most people see the clouds and start screaming at the rain—which, if you think about it, is like trying to stop a flood by shouting at the water. It doesn’t work, and you just end up wet and hoarse. The secret to Stoic resilience isn't pretending the storm doesn't exist; it's realizing that you are the captain, not the waves. Why We Get "Stormy" Anger is a natural reaction, but it’s a terrible strategist. When we let the external chaos dictate our internal peace, we allow ourselves to become bitter rather than better . The Bitter Path: Letting the wind knock you over and staying down to complain about the breeze. The Better Path: Using the wind to fill your sails, even if you didn't pick the direction it's blowing.
